On October 16, John and Arn held a community book launch event in Yellowknife for The Price of Gold. Co-sponsored by and held at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, the event was attended more than 50 Yellowknifers. Speakers included a welcome from Elder Jonas Sangris and reflections from Toxic Legacies project partner, the former MLA and city councillor Kevin O’Reilly. Northern Quill Publishing, an exciting new northern book publishing initative, graciously provided book sales support.
We were so gratified to see so many Yellowknifers come hear us talk about the book and Giant’s history, ask questions, and share their stories about the mine and the community. Thanks especially to Mike Miller of the PWNHC for organizational support. Here are a couple images from the event, below.
